Classification of Undergraduate Institutions in the United States

Comprehensive universities: large in scale, with a wide range of disciplines and a strong emphasis on research. Examples: Harvard, MIT, UCLA.

Liberal arts colleges: focus on undergraduate studies and general education. Examples: Williams, Amherst.

Community college: two-year program with low tuition and transfer opportunities. Example: Santa Monica College.

How to apply

Regular (RD): Deadline is January, results are released in April.

Early Application/Decision (EA/ED): November deadline, EA is non-binding, ED is binding.

Rolling (RA): No cut-off, first come, first served.

Dual admission: If language is not sufficient, conditional admission.

Application Timeline

Winter of senior year: Submit Regular Application (RD).
